Old House Parts

Old House Parts was a pre-1940s architectural salvage depot, one of
the very first projects taken on by Montgomery Preservation. To this day
it provides individuals who are restoring old buildings with low-cost,
original architectural materials and helps to save architectural elements
that would otherwise be destroyed or lost when old buildings are
demolished. Salvaged materials include doors, shutters, light fixtures,
antique glass, hardware, plumbing fixtures, fireplace mantles, windows,
and one-of-a-kind items.
Originally housed in buildings located behind historic Lincoln High School
in Rockville, Old House Parts was later
relocated to a building on the grounds of the Gaithersburg Latitude
Observatory, in Gaithersburg.
Operations at this location, however, ceased in 2001, when Montgomery
Preservation was asked to vacate the site because of pending development.
That move took place in January 2002. Since then all architectural
materials have been in storage, and Old House Parts has been operating on
an on-call, as-needed basis.
