Past Awards Ceremonies

2010

The 24th Annual Montgomery County Awards for Historic Preservation were presented on Friday June 4, 2010 at a gala award ceremony at the Historic Silver Spring B&O Railroad Station, followed by a reception and light buffet catered by Chef Hawa of the former Taste of Jerusalem restaurant.

Mary Ann Kephart This year's Lifetime Achievement Award was presented posthumously to Mary Ann Kephart. She was a member of the Montgomery County Committee for the Maryland Historical Trust and worked for County preservation legislation. The Committee merged with Montgomery Preservation Inc. in 1985. She was a founder of Historic Medley District, one of the first historic preservation organizations in Montgomery County and a model for subsequent groups. She became an advisor and mentor to the next generation of preservationists in the County and is sorely missed.

MPI also dedicated the Wayne Goldstein Preservation Action Fund, a memorial fund established to support historic preservation action, research, designation and community.

In addition, the Montgomery County Executive’s Awards were presented for restoration and building and excellence in preservation research and education.
