In Memory of Robert B. Davis
January 29, 1929 – January 14, 2012

Robert Davis with his photographs

Robert B. Davis was a career B&O Railroad employee, serving from his teenage years until retirement, largely at the Silver Spring B&O Station at 8100 Georgia Avenue. He was also a longtime volunteer at the 3rd District Montgomery County Police Station.

After retirement, Davis was a strong supporter and a critical source of information for the restoration of the condemned Silver Spring Station by Montgomery Preservation. He was featured in the documentary film about the history of the station and its restoration, Last Stop: Silver Spring. His personal photo albums of the station history were turned into a photographic exhibit on display at the station, Robert Davis Photographs, A Railroad Life Remembered. A bench on the station platform is dedicated to Mr. Davis.

MPI thanks his family for sharing his precious last years with us, his friends and former colleagues. We will all miss his bright smile, his knowledge of railroad lore, and his joy in sharing his recollections.

Robert Davis was the heart of the Silver Spring Station.
