In Memoriam: Charlotte Coffield of Lyttonsville
Charlotte Coffield was President of the Lyttonsville Community Civic Association when it received the 2009 MPI Special Achievement Award, Outstanding Education Project, for its Black History Month Exhibit of Lyttonsville. Samuel Lytton, a slave freed before the Civil War, purchased land in 1853 and founded this Silver Spring community.
