Annual Scotland Juneteenth Heritage Festival

June 15 - June 19

Welcome to the Scotland Juneteenth Heritage Festival, the region’s most prolific cultural event focused on the celebration and support of the historic Black communities of Montgomery County, Maryland. Spanning five days and 8 venues, our 2024 Festival is set to captivate with 23 events across the county. With a fresh Caribbean carnival theme, this year’s Festival promises to be unforgettable with lively music, dances, activities, and a celebratory and vivid atmosphere.

The Annual Scotland Juneteenth Heritage Festival is a meaningful celebration that pays tribute to the rich cultural heritage of Juneteenth and the vibrant Scotland Community. The Festival has a dual purpose: It honors tradition and supports the restoration of the Scotland AME Zion Church on Seven Locks Road, which was unfortunately deemed uninhabitable after a devastating flood in the summer of 2019. In 2024, the Festival continues its mission of supporting the church. Moreover, this year, we are expanding our efforts to support five local organizations dedicated to empowering and uplifting the Black and youth communities.
