School Segregation in Montgomery County
February 28, 2019 @ 7:00 am - 9:00 am
Ralph Buglass traces the history of education for black children in Montgomery County. The practice of “separate but equal” schools was anything but equal. With help from the Rosenwald Fund, 17 schools were built across the county, many of which still stand. After Brown vs. Board, the Takoma Park school was one of the first to integrate. Free, light refreshments.
Hosted by Historic Takoma (historictakoma.org) and the Village of Takoma Park.
At Takoma Seventh Day Adventist Church Center, 6810 Eastern Ave. NW, Washington, DC. (Parking and entrance at rear of the building)
